The Snow Centre, Hemel Hempstead, is the closest real snow slope you can get to London. There’s a large 160 metre main snow slope as well as the largest indoor lesson slope in the UK. Both the main and lesson slopes are over 30 metres wide, meaning there is plenty of room to perfect your skiing and snowboarding skills. The Snow Centre is open to skiers and snowboarders of all abilities, with many categories of lessons and slope passes available to cater for all.

Monday – Thursday: 9:00am – 10:00pm
Friday: 9:00am- 11:00pm
Saturday – Sunday: 8:00am – 10:00pm

At certain times special sessions are held and the slope may also close for ‘grooming’, so please check the official Snow Centre website or phone to confirm slope times.


What Should I Wear & What Equipment do I Need?

The Snow Centre use HEAD branded ski and snowboard equipment that they offer to you free when you use their facilities. The Snow Centre have a special arrangement with HEAD, meaning you get to try out the newest equipment on the market. With your lesson or lift passes get the use of ski equipment, including Skis, Snowboards, Boots, Poles and Helmets for no extra cost.

Remember it’s cold inside as it is a real snow slope, so wrap up warm. Specialist clothing is available to rent, so check out the official Snow Centre website or phone to learn more.


Lessons at The Snow Centre

The Snow Centre in Hemel Hempstead boasts the largest lesson slope in the UK, and has over 100 BASI qualified examiners. That means if you want to learn to ski there is no better place. Plus, it has the freshest, all year round, real snow you will get near London. There are many different lesson types available and The Snow Centre caters for all levels. So, whether you’re just getting your feet wet or you are an advanced skier wanting to learn some more complex skills, there’s something for you at The Snow Centre.

Freestyle

The ultimate way to express yourself. Whatever your ability get yourself along, it is great fun since the freestyle team at The Snow Centre create fantastic park layouts for freestyle riders. On Fridays The Snow Centre transforms the main slope into a full freestyle skiing and snowboarding park. It’s always fresh since a new park plan is implemented each and every week, with specialist freestyle coaches right there to supply complimentary coaching.

Thursday evenings is also made for freestylers, although this time the setup is smaller and easier and is better suited for those not confident enough to try out the main Friday freestyle park session. If you are completely new to freestyle skiing or snowboarding and want a bit of pre-training, then there is a Rookie Clinic available where you can learn how to hit rails, boxes and kickers. These sessions are designed to show you the basics when it comes to pulling off freestyle jumps, kicks and rails.
